Remembering 9/11: Signs of American Strength

A Times Square project reminded our team why signs—and the brands behind them—matter. On 9/11, we honor unity, service, and how to support our veterans.

Remembering 9/11: A Times Square Project and the Signs of American Strength

Some projects do more than test your logistics, they test your heart. Last year, our team stood in Times Square, working on signage for Planet Hollywood. Surrounded by the hum of New York, we were reminded why we build signs in the first place: to stand for something. As we remember 9/11 this year, that project brought our country’s values into sharp focus. A sense of resilience, service, courage, and a commitment to one another. This is our story of what being in New York meant to us, and how 9/11 changed America.

How 9/11 Shook America And Brought Us Together

Remembering 9/11 means remembering the shock and how ordinary routines were interrupted by images none of us will forget. But it also means remembering what happened next. We didn’t let fear paralyze us. We checked on neighbors. We lined up to donate blood. Firefighters, police officers, medics, and everyday citizens ran toward danger to help strangers. Communities gathered in schools, churches, and city squares to grieve, to pray, to support the families who lost loved ones.

In the weeks and months that followed, we learned to live with grief while choosing action. Businesses adapted. Families adapted. Cities adapted. The nation reasserted a simple but powerful truth: we are stronger together.

A Times Square Signage Project That Reignited Our Commitment

Standing in Times Square is like standing inside a living brand gallery. Every marquee, every blade sign, every LED face tells a story about the company behind it. While installing signage for Planet Hollywood, our team navigated the elements that make great work possible. The permits, code checks, lines of sight, electrical and structural considerations, and the choreography required to work safely and efficiently in the city that never stops moving.

But it was more than a technical win. Looking up at the screens and down the avenues, we felt the weight of place. New York carries 9/11 differently in the quiet rituals of remembrance woven into daily life. Being there reminded us that our work isn’t just a service; it’s participation in a larger, ongoing American story. When we install a sign in New York, or anywhere, we’re helping a brand stand up and say, “We’re here. We’re ready to serve. We’re part of this community.”

Remembering What It Takes to Be an American And Why 9/11 Still Matters

Being American isn’t one thing; it’s a commitment to many things held together. It’s a commitment to our freedom and responsibility, ambition and service, innovation and integrity. On 9/11, we saw all of that tested. We also saw what it looks like when those values hold.

To honor the day is to honor the people who live those values quietly. The workers who open before dawn. The managers who put safety first. The veterans who carried the flag abroad and carry its meaning at home. The first responders who answer the call without hesitation. The parents, teachers, nurses, drivers, and builders who keep this country running.

Remembering 9/11 reminds us that excellence isn’t just a performance metric—it’s a duty. In our field, that means drawings that are accurate, fabrication that’s clean, installation that’s safe, and project management that’s transparent. It means we do the small things right so the big picture stands tall.

Honor the Day: Support Our Veterans

Service doesn’t end when a uniform comes off. On 9/11, we invite you to honor the men and women who’ve served by supporting organizations that stand alongside them every day.
